Hilary Cooper once said that "Life is not measured
by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away.”
I’m a believer and advocate of spending money on experiences
rather than material things. I feel more complete and happier in family
vacations, roadtrip with friends, reunions, reaching the peak of Mt. Banahaw, helping the
orphans in Cambodia, stepping on a different country, dinner dates, riding a cable car over the vast Napa Valley vineyard, witnessing the sunrise over Angkor Wat, having lunch in
an uninhabited island in Thailand, drinking hot chocolate in an outdoor cafe in France, riding a becak around Yogyakarta than buying and hoarding the latest gadgets and
accessories.
The Lord has been good to me in 2013. I’ve had lots of
wonderful travels. Either solo, with friends, or with family.
As we close this year 2013, I started planning my travels
next year-and praying for God’s guidance and blessings.
Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalms 37:4
Mindanao, Philippines-February 2014
The Land of Promise. I will be exploring the
cities of Davao, Cagayan de Oro, and the beautiful, cool, mountainous province
of Bukidnon.
Jack's Ridge. Davao City, Philippines |
Cebu, Philippines-March 2014
A province full of tourist and historic
sites, it’ll be my 4th visit to this province. I will explore some
historical sites in the city, like the famous Magellan’s cross, Fort San Pedro,
and finally swim with Whale Sharks in Oslob thus crossing it out on my bucket
list.
Beijing, China-March 2014
A city full of UNESCO World Heritage Sites,
I’m targeting to visit all of them, and of course one of the 7 Wonders of the
World, the Great Wall of China. It’ll be a dream-come-true.
Tibet-September 2014
One of the most beautiful places on Earth I
believe is the Tibetan plateau. This beautiful kingdom full of wonders has been
in my mind ever since I’ve seen the movie 7 Years in Tibet. And next year is
the time to visit it.
One of my bucket lists too, is to have a
retreat in one of its temples.
Mongolia-October 2014
Vast steppes, nomads, horses, archers, yaks,
intact culture, tents, snow-capped-mountains-it’s one of the beautiful places of
Earth where only a few people visit. I hope to experience this wonderful land.
What are your travel plans for the year
2014?
